Reduction Behaviors and Generated Phases of Iron Ores using Ammonia as Reducing Agent

As one of the hydrogen carriers, ammonia has become promising candidate as a reducing agent for implementing hydrogen-based ironmaking to reduce CO2 emissions. On other hand, abundant high combined water (CW) iron ore recently been investigated raw material ironmaking. Goethite (FeOOH), main component high-CW ore, can change porous hematite (Fe2O3) by dehydration, enhancing its reactivity. This paper describes fundamental study reduction behavior using agent. The effects different types (i.e., high- and low-CW ores), temperatures 650, 700, 750°C), conditions post-reduction treatments quenching NH3, fast- slow- inert gas) on behavior. results reveal that dehydrated exhibits higher utilization rate is reduced faster due specific surface area pores generated from dehydration. degree sample increased at temperature.
